For Immediate Release
Thoughts on the election: We felt like today would be a good
day to provide out thoughts on the election of 2008.
December 8th, 1941......
"Mr. Vice President, Mr. Speaker, members of the
Senate and the House of Representatives: yesterday, December
7th, 1941 - a date which will live in infamy …" text
from President Roosevelt's speech to Congress the day after the
attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese.
I have heard way too many remarks that the election will go
down as a historic event, which it is, let's just pray that it
is not one that will go "go down in infamy" for the
wrong reasons.
With the unknown of our President Elect on so many issues it
seems fairly clear is thoughts on gun control. I think we have
legit reason to be concerned about our future as gun owners, and
trainers. But we must remember, and I can say this having worked
in three other countries, that we have the greatest nation in
the world. Our future may appear bleak but we must lose sight
that we will prevail. Gun sales have rocketed, ammo is going
like bread and milk in advance of a winter blizzard. I was in
one or our largest gun distributors in the area last week and
there were two (2) boxes of 9mm ammo on the shelf. I asked a
clerk about it and he advised they could not keep it on the
shelves. AR and AK styled weapons flying off the shelves. Tried
buy an AR magazine in the last few weeks?
Things that are fact right now!
"Bullet serialization -- the process by which each
individual round of ammunition is identified and marked with a
laser engraved serial number -- is not feasible from a practical
standpoint and any legislation mandating such action could
rightfully be considered a de facto ban on ammunition.
While legislation has been introduced in more than 20 states,
NSSF has successfully defeated all of these bills." NSSF

"Over the last several weeks, hundreds of stories have
appeared nationwide about increasing firearm sales due to gun
owners' concerns that President-elect Obama and a
Democrat-controlled Congress will pass legislation limiting the
Second Amendment rights of Americans. " NSSF Bullet Points

"Data released by the FBI's National Instant Criminal
Background Check System (NICS) show 1,183,279 background checks
were performed on the sale of firearms in October, a 15.4
percent increase from the 1,025,123 reported in October 2007.
Adjusted state figures show background checks up 15.6 percent
during the month. A total of 9,655,962 background checks have
been reported by NICS so far this year. The increase coincides
with an uptick in excise taxes reported by firearms and
ammunition manufacturers, another key economic indicator for the
firearms industry." NSSF Bullet Points 10 November
I have been asked dozen of times since the election my
thoughts and practically every answer has been "buy
ammo". I truly feel this is how our rights will be
attacked.
So, in the meantime be glad we live in the U.S. of A. Because
we still stand tall.
As Christmas approaches let's all give thanks to the brave
men and women who have given the greatest sacrifice, or is
giving their all at this time to keep our country one of the
world's greatest nations.
On behalf of everyone who works with Dodd & Associates we
wish you and your families the Merriest of the Christmas Season
and A Great and Happy New Year. |
